Junge Liebe von australischen Streetpunk-Veteranen! Nach drei CD-Alben und dem 7" Split mit den HARRINGTON SAINTS, gibt es die Melbourne-Skins (gegründet 1998) zur Abwechslung sogar im 10" Format. Der Sound ist etwas eingängiger und melodischer geworden, das liegt u.a. auch an den Gesangspassagen von Neu-Bassistin Flea. Ansonsten sind sich die Mumford Brothers geblieben und stehen für unverfälschten UK Oi! mit dezenten Ami-Einflüssen. Limitierte Pressung auf farbigem Vinyl.

Optisch und musikalisch sehr ansprechendes Scheibchen von den Australiern. Ich verstehe nicht, wieso er Band immer irgendwelche amerikanischen Einflüsse nachgesagt werden? Ich finde, das ganze klingt sehr britisch - sehr ruppige Gitarrenarbeit, auch vom Gesang her geht das alles mehr in diese Richtung. Die Lady am Bass (wo sonst?) bringt ein bißchen mehr Farbe in die Band, gefällt mir sehr gut. Und im 10" Format macht sich das ganze gleich noch besser. Ist jetzt nichts, was es vorher noch nicht gegeben hätte, aber die Band zieht irgendwie Interesse auf sich. Bin gespannt, ob sie in Europa auch einen Longplayer veröffentlichen werden. So the last CD from the letter from Aussie Pug Music is from the band called Slick 46 from Melbourne which tagged themselves as a working class streetpunk. Band line up is made by two brothers on guitar and drums and bass is played by girl and after the Move Aside and Stand in Line albums this is their third release. All the members of the band support each other in vocals. On CD is 6 songs and musically it is average Oi!Punk with touch of old classics like Rejects or Ejected spiced up with U.S Bombs and they main drive is in the vocals. Lyrics are about standing on your own feet (Stand Up), against street preachers and sects which knocking on your flat and pissing you off (Johnny Jesus) and also about denying the people who are changing leave the scene and live mainstream life (Follow the Leader) or rich youth (song Rich Kid which has beginning similar to Hey Little Rich Boy from Sham´s). Greatest hit is Johnny Jesus and Follow the Leader for sure. Booklet contains all lyrics and one band photo. This isn´t my cup of tea but sometimes it is good to make your musical horizons little bit wider.
